CM-Logic Ltd today announced that version 4.0 of its widely used ClearCase policy and trigger management tool, CM-InPractice™, is due for release in October.
Many CM-InPractice™ users already benefit from the tools capability to ensure that policy and trigger definitions are easily managed and deployed across multiple projects and sites.
CM-InPractice remains the only application that manages polices and triggers from a central location and deploys to multiple sites.
CM-InPractice operates with ClearCase 3.2 and above. It does not require any changes to vob configurations or updates to the ClearCase installs.
CM-InPractice is registered with IBM as a value-add solution and has been approved as an IBM Server Proven application.
Version 4.0 of CM-InPractice adds many new features to the tool including:
- Flexible Trigger installation configuration.
It is now possible to define for a VOB or set of VOBs which triggers are to installed and what, if any, user exemption lists apply. CM-InPractice will verify if an excluded trigger is required as part of any CM-InPractice policy definitions.
- "ClearCase 10 Best Triggers"
CM-InPractice now includes policy definitions for the 10 Best Triggers as defined by Rational on the ClearCase support site.
- Full auditing.
CM-InPractice audits both events that occur at the trigger level but also any changes to policy definitions that occur. Thus a full audit trail is available and helps to satisfy any governance requirements.
- Policy Sets.
CM-InPractice can now be shipped with predefined policy sets to enable faster deployment and setup times. With our policy merge in capability CM-InPractice is capable of incorporating policy definitions from many sources.
- Improved GUI.
Improved functions on the GUI include:
- New look and feel.
- Improved navigation.
IBM Rational ClearCase® and ClearCase MultiSite® are together the leading solution for managing distributed development environments. CM-Logic has developed CM-InPractice as an add-on which enables administrators to easily manage policies and triggers from site to site. Through a GUI interface used at a single site the entire topology of sites can be managed and configured.
"A growing number of our customers are seeking ways to provide unified management of policies and triggers and are looking to the tool to provide fully managed policies” states Stephen Toop, Director, CM-Logic. "This latest version adds many features requested by our customers and continues to be a solid foundation for our future plans for the product.”
CM-Logic offers consulting services to assist users that want to migrate from any existing trigger and policy setup over to the CM-InPractice system.
CM-InPractice is available for download as an evaluation version and can be purchased by contacting CM-Logic at
